  How many JWs really believe the end will come "soon"?

  this topic has been on my mind lately.

  i have been looking around at jws and wondering how many truly believe the end is as near as they are told.

  from my personal experience, i know that my parents fully believe the end is imminent and may come any time now.

  I think that deep down, most witnesses feel that their own "end" will come before "the end". Most witnesses just go through the motions and are weary and tired at this point. Believe me, I see it when I go to the meetings. One brother that I know who is staring down 60 said that he is "old, miserable and broke" and knows he will die. He graduated from high school in 1975 by the way. Need I say more?

  we have all seen the singing literature trolley /cart song disaster that was shown in feb 2015.. i can just see this new idea appearing on jaydubyabroodcastin soon:.

  What person/persons/group is behind the rebranding of Jehovahs Witnesses

  with the jw rebranding program in full swing, who do you think is behind all this?

  i'm not certain the governing body came up with these ideas.

  at least not the old guard which died off around 2009.. given the fairly recent articles in the kingdom ministry and watchtower about the dangers of the internet and having the latest gadget, this rebranding effort can't have been in the works for much more than three years.. the makeover is slick...very slick...and very clever.

  Why Jehovah God of course!

  Seriously, I wish I knew. I think the main reason for the rebranding is to save and create cash to pay child abuse victims. This organization has always had money, but I highly doubt that they had tens of millions of dollars laying around just to pay out claims. Money is being saved by closing branches, consolidating and moving the world headquarters out of New York City, selling off kingdom halls, encouraging everyone to download their literature as opposed to getting books and magazines, I could go on. When a company sells and consolidates suddenly, they are in dire need of money. If they don't pay abuse claims or don't have the money to pay, the governments may start seizing property.

  Maybe the governing body is behind the rebranding and only the governing body. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure this out.

  What comforts you when you no longer believe in a ressurrection ?

  our family just lost someone dear and very close, a faithful jw.

  as we went through the entire funeral services and meeting long time brothers and sisters, who in general have been very kind and warm towards us, we realize that the hope of resurrection is a meaningless utopia for us, like a fairytale for little children.

  we don't have faith in it anymore, and serves us of no comfort.

  I don’t think that reality has really set in for me. I’m a born-in, but have been mentally out since at least 2010. I still think like a witness because that’s all that I know. To see people that I love grow old and die is an extremely tough pill to swallow. I used to think that I would see them again, but that isn’t going to happen. I have a difficult time with that. To know that my 89 year old anointed grandmother will die soon and I’ll never see her again after that almost moves me to tears. I try to cope the best way that I can, I guess.

  i didn't go to the prom but i did belong to a chess club until the awake article said it was a war game and suggested true christians wouldn't play such a game.

  I belonged to a couple of clubs, but no sports. I really wanted to play (American) football, but was not allowed. I remember my senior year in high school when the hot Swiss foreign exchange student asked me to go to the prom with her. Of course I couldn't go. Fifteen years later, that still irritates me!

  One can’t help but notice all of the dramatic changes thathave been happening to the organization. This is not the religion that I grewup in. I’m not saying that the religion that I grew up in was better, justdifferent. Since 2010, we have received a new songbook, new bible, new understandings,new names for everything, new this and new that. It seems like change and neware the only things that motivate the witnesses anymore.

  How about theparadise getting here? How about that for a new understanding?

  My point is this: What exactly is the governing body tryingto do? What is their overall agenda? Do they even know? I can’t figure it out.

  Wow. This is certainly not the religion that I grew up in. I am not saying that the religion that I grew up in was better, but it was certainly different. What exactly is the governing body trying to do? What is their overall agenda? If you thought that the witnesses were odd a few years ago, you must think that they are downright loony at this point.

  This design is actually very clever. If the building was ever sold, it could easily be converted to a bank or sectioned off for two or three storefronts.
